ABOUT LEXUS SMARTACCESS KEY FOBS
While car keys of the past were fairly simple devices, your Lexus SmartAccess Key Fob is an extremely sophisticated device. Contained inside is hardware that vehicle-based sensors can detect, allowing you to lock and unlock your vehicle doors—as well as start the push-button ignition—without having to remove your keys from your pocket or purse. Daily use, exposure to weather elements, and even minor damage could cause your key to not operate as it should.
Depending on the model year of your Lexus, your key could contain a battery which may wear out over time through daily use. If you begin to experience symptoms of a weak key battery, it's time to let our Lexus parts experts determine if your key requires a new battery or a replacement.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Our team will determine whether your key needs a battery replacement, re-programmed, or a replacement key is needed. Because keys are a security-sensitive component of your vehicle, only you, or someone authorized by you, can order a replacement key. In order to do so, your dealer will require proof of identity and vehicle ownership with original documents.

- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- Your current vehicle registration
- A valid driver's license
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
If all that your key fob needs is a replacement battery, the process could take as little as 15 minutes. Depending on the model of vehicle and the specific type of key, our parts department may need to order a replacement requiring a wait time of 2-3 days. We welcome you to schedule an appointment at your convenience. Cost will vary depending on the type of key you have.
In order to test the remote and mechanical key function, the dealer will need access to your vehicle – either at the dealership or at the location of the vehicle. The repair process will be documented on a Repair Order; this process may be subject to an additional service charge.

Available at the time of financing for the purchase or lease of a new, L/Certified, or used vehicle – Lexus Key Replacement Protection can be added to Tire & Wheel Platinum or Platinum Plus Plans*. With this additional coverage, you can drive with confidence from knowing you'll be taken care of with Key Replacement Protection in the event that your keys are lost, damaged, or stolen.

COVERAGE EXCLUSIONS MAY APPLY:
Replacement keys, if you did not receive two (2) master keys at the time of purchase/lease of the vehicle;
Replacement keys, if the damaged keys are covered by the manufacturer's, repairer's, or supplier's warranty or recall;
Any costs associated when the vehicle key becomes inoperable due to malfunctioning, or a result of reprogramming of vehicle's main body ECU
Purchase of a Key Replacement agreement is optional, cancellable (see agreement terms) and not required to obtain credit.
Any repairs/replacements made without prior authorization are excluded. Additional exclusions may apply. Please consult your Customer Agreement for specific coverage details, including limitations and exclusions.
